Nest / Blockage Removal

Nest and Blockage Removal

Open chimneys offer a warm and sheltered spot for birds to build their nests but these nests prevent smoke from escaping and will cause dangerous fumes to return back into your room.

Using a rod mounted CCTV camera I am able to inspect the chimney and confirm if a nest is present.

Live nests are protected by law and can only be removed out of nesting season so depending upon the time of year I will either remove the nest or advise you that it needs to be booked in for removal later in the year once the birds have vacated the nest.

Nesting season tends to be between March and August but can vary depending on weather conditions.

I use a range of manual and power attachments to slowly break up the nest section by section and remove them from the chimney. This can be a time consuming process as twigs are often very tightly packed into the chimney.

Once the chimney appears to be clear I carry out a second CCTV inspection to ensure all debris has been removed, this is then followed by the standard smoke test as part of the chimney sweeping procedure.
